Local home sales show continued strength

Colorado Springs’ re-sale housing market continued on the upswing last month, as single-family home prices and sales rose again and the supply of homes for sale remained in check. The median price of homes sold in August jumped to $210,500 – a 10.2% increase over the same month last year and the 6th consecutive year-over-year gain in monthly prices, according to a report this week by the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors. Home sales totaled 898 in August – up 7.9% from a year ago; sales now have increased in 12 of the past 14 months. Homes sold in August spent an average 74 days on the market before their sale.
